Developing tomorrow's leaders in our community

We believe that quality relationships, collaboration and engagement are the foundation to building a culture of trust and support. This is fundamental to our capacity to learn & achieve group and individual flow. We support students to become great future leaders that understand the importance of integrity. We believe school is a place where you can realise your potential and the development of your abilities.

Student Leaders support the school community in strategic decision making, role modelling our values with service to all. This involves organising and leading events and programs. Our student leaders embody the key values of Respect, Equality, Integrity, and Pride.

Student Leadership is a key part of our Thriving Learners Framework.

We want students to feel, see and understand how their voice can have a positive impact on their community and how this act of service is a catalyst for self-actualisation. The role of the Student Leader is to embody the school values through a strategic leadership action plan, designed purposefully and effectively address a need of the school community.

Students are coached through a ‘Design for Change’ project in which students go through a design process linked to their chosen portfolio specialisation. Student Leaders experience intensive leadership training and skill development through the Stage 1 Business Innovation course as part of the SACE where they can accrue up to 20 SACE credits whilst fulfilling their portfolio specialisation.

Golden Grove Student Forums

We have established a communications structure to enable students from all year levels to share their voice.

Our future vision is to have student voice that is broad and diverse through a highly developed informal and formal structure which listens and responds to a range of student perspectives. Our mission is to embed student voice and for teachers and students to work collaboratively to reflect on and improve teaching and learning across the whole school.

We encourage students to join the student forums every year. Our middle and senior school forums meet twice a term to share feedback to our school and discuss ideas with the Student Leadership Team. Once a term there is a Whole School Forum where all students collaborate and reinforce the use of student voice in school decision making.

In the classroom, all students have access to the schools student voice email account which is supported by the Student Leadership teacher where ideas and suggestions are discussed in regular student leadership meetings.

The Flow of Communication Map details how this collaboration occurs at our school.

Acknowledgement of Country

Golden Grove High School acknowledges the Kaurna people who are the traditional owners of the land we learn on. We pay our respects to their spiritual relationship with Country and acknowledge that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to those living today.

We pay our respects to Kaurna Elders, past, present and emerging and we acknowledge the cultural authority of Aboriginal people visiting from areas around Australia.
