Developing tomorrow's female AFL champions

Our AFL Girls program is a specialised initiative aimed at developing excellence in Australian Rules football. Emphasising the development of fitness, skills, tactics, strategies, and mindset crucial for success in elite team environments, our program is dedicated to fostering well-rounded individuals who act with integrity, display a commitment to personal growth, and take a proactive approach to their own improvement.

Our AFL Girls program is integrated as an elective subject alongside the HPE Program. Students benefit from exposure to a diverse array of industry experts, enhancing their understanding of the demands of female athleticism while acquiring valuable qualifications throughout their program journey.

Students engage in 2 double lessons (90 minutes each) per week, spanning a 20-week period of intensive AFL coaching.

Supported by partnerships with the Central Districts SANFLW team, Port Adelaide AFLW team, and the Adelaide Crows AFLW team, our AFL Girls program offers access to elite players, coaching clinics, and facility tours. Additionally, we've partnered with AFL Max, regularly utilising their venue for indoor football carnivals and overnight camps.

Participants represent Golden Grove High School in various sporting competitions organized by School Sport SA, including AFL Nines tournaments, State-wide knockout competitions, and day carnivals against other local specialist football schools.

Acknowledgement of Country

Golden Grove High School acknowledges the Kaurna people who are the traditional owners of the land we learn on. We pay our respects to their spiritual relationship with Country and acknowledge that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to those living today.

We pay our respects to Kaurna Elders, past, present and emerging and we acknowledge the cultural authority of Aboriginal people visiting from areas around Australia.
