GGHS MIDDLE SCHOOL (Y8 & 9) SPORT
Involving students in a range of sports with the emphasis being one of participation and experiential learning.
Students in Years 8/9 participate mainly in Vista Zone Competitions (Weekly Sport and One Day Carnivals). Weekly Sport takes place each Tuesday afternoon in Terms 2,3 and 4 (different sports offered each term) and at GGHS will be offered to Year 8/9 students.
GGHS SENIOR SCHOOL (10, 11 & 12) SPORT
Participation in sport of a higher level with a higher emphasis on competition and achievement.
Students in Year 10, 11 & 12 participate mainly in SSSSA Knockout Competitions with the provision of some opportunities for stand-alone Year 10 carnivals. Teams entered in SSSSA Knockout Competitions would be selected on a “best available team” basis. Sports for which SSSSA Knockout Teams could be entered are identified in the calendar below.
WHOLE SCHOOL EVENTS - ATHLETICS CARNIVALS
The Vista and SSSSA Athletics Carnivals are the two largest scale sporting events that occur. Both of these events occur in Term 1 and the team is constructed of students from all Year Levels based on results from the Golden Grove High School Sports Day in Term 1 as well as previous participation and achievement.
