The Golden Grove High School Health and Physical Education department provides a broad range of learning experiences, across a range of activities appropriate to age and gender. Health and Physical Education is compulsory for one semester in Years 8 – 10. Students have the opportunity to try a range of activities which allow them to meet the HPE Australian Curriculum Standards. The Year 8 – 10 curriculum introduces students to activities which could include netball, touch, badminton, volleyball, hockey, softball, cricket, athletics, tennis, basketball, AFL, archery to name a few.
We offer two specialist programs in Touch Football and Netball for students. Please refer to the Touch Football and Netball menus for further information about these programs.
For those interested in pathways at Year 11 and 12, we offer SACE courses in Health, Physical Education and Sports Studies, where high achievement is a key focus. These courses are highly popular with students at GGHS.
Within the Health component of Years 8-10 Health & PE classes, students will also cover the compulsory ‘Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum’. For more information of this program, please see this Fact Sheet.
