Recently, the government has confirmed that year 7 public school students will be taught in high school from term 1, 2022. The move will align South Australia’s public schools with the national curriculum taught in high schools making it easier to deliver subjects and improve outcomes for students. Access to dedicated facilities and resources and exposure to different teaching styles will also give each year 7 student opportunities for deeper learning, greater peer interactions, and greater independence and responsibility. GGHS ‘Class of 2018’ SACE Results
Congratulations to all members of the ‘Class of 2018’ on their SACE achievements. Highlights from the results include: 191 students achieved their South Australian Certificate of Education 60% of those who applied for tertiary study achieved an ATAR above 70 17% of those who applied achieved higher than 85 11 of those students scored an ATAR above 90 Dux of 2018 is Casey Norman (98.05) 19 students achieved an A+ grade, 4 of them an A+ with merit 16 students achieved 3 or more A grades. Well done and thank you to all the teachers involved this year and in previous years. Well done also to our Year 12 Sub-School leaders Mrs Cheryl Watt and Mrs Kathy Hodgson. Charlotte Wins in 2018 Eden Prize Competition
Ms Wallis recently worked with her Year 10 Social Studies class on the 2018 Eden Prize which is a South Australian Department for Education based competition for Year 10 students, usually around a Social Sciences topic. Each school is allowed to submit 3 entries. This year's topic was 'How can social media make the world a better and happier place?’. GGHS student, Charlotte won second prize in the state, earning $750! Charlotte will be presented with her award at the Year 10 Final Assembly by Mr Malcolm McInerney, who convened the competition.
